Rural Residential Water Treatment System
Rural water supplies may be from rain water tanks or bores but most suffer from the same problem; coliform bacteria. In the rain water tank the contamination comes from the collection area and sometimes what is actually living in the tank. We have all heard stories of animals dying in the drinking water tank and not being found for weeks; yuk! For a bore the contamination comes from organisms that are carried through the pervious layers until they reach the water table. Bores can also sometimes suffer from unpleasant dissolved minerals which cause offensive smells and taste.
Most people in the country have lived with it all their lives but you can get very sick from drinking that water. Ozone is an effective way of treating this water both for bacteria and dissolved minerals.
The simplest and cheapest way is to just treat the water tank; this takes a while but will get there. Only what's to stop more contaminants arriving while you're still treating it; and add to that the fact that you really can't sit around waiting for a couple of weeks for the first glass.
Ozone Industries are offering 2 distinct types of water processing systems:
1.
2. |
The economic way as outlined above where we treat the main storage tanks and guarantee to lower the coliform count in your water and to improve the taste.
Our "on demand" system in which we use a separate small tank to process water from your storage tanks. In this way we are able to control the level to which the water is processed and ensure that no unprocessed water can enter your household water pipes. |
And by the way, the first system is upgradeable to the "on demand" system.
Introduction to our "on demand" system
The system is based on the principal that existing rain water tanks contain harmful bacteria and parasites; the water chemistry otherwise is suitable for human consumption.
Harmful organisms may have been introduced by contamination from the roof areas, from insects and small amphibians, or from small animals. It is not practical to treat the rain water collection tank itself as the cause of the contamination may still be present and will only re-infect the water. The treatment may in itself exacerbate the problem by killing small frogs etc. that will then decompose.
With a bore the problem can still exist due to pathogens draining down into the water table and also residing in the storage tanks when the water is pumped to the surface.
We have elected to use an on-demand system with a separate tank that can be closed to prevent these contaminants from entering. The water in this tank will be automatically sanitised using ozone to a level that will destroy all normal bacteria and viruses. It may also improve the taste and smell of the water if it is contaminated with minerals and chemicals that can be oxidised. This tank will be simply an extension of the main storage tanks and will be filled and treated automatically as a result of normal usage.
Systems will be available in capacities from normal residential at around 800L per day through to commercial.
